West Chicago's Street Art Banner “People’s Choice” Winner Announced

West Chicago, Illinois: October 23, 2009 - The West Chicago Cultural Arts Commission extends congratulations to Judy Hall the 2009 street art banner “People’s Choice” winner. Judy, from Winfield, Illinois, is a retired primary education teacher. In her 35 years of teaching, she created many art projects with her students and became interested in pursuing her individual art.

Although primarily self-taught, she has taken classes at College of DuPage and has done work in graphite, pastels, watercolors, oils and acrylics. She prefers working with oils and especially enjoys doing portraits. Hall said that the piece chosen for the banner, “Pensive” is the first painting she has done since retirement. Additional pieces of Judy’s work can be found in her portfolio on Facebook at www.facebook.com/judy.r.hall. She welcomes commission work and can be contacted at judysstudio5@sbcglobal.net. Judy was awarded a gift certificate generously donated by Santo Maria’s Ristorante Italiano located in downtown West Chicago.

A winner was also chosen from all those who voted for the “People’s Choice” award. Todd Williamson is the lucky winner of a gift certificate donated by Tastee Freez. The Cultural Arts Commission would like to thank Santo Maria’s Ristorante Italiano and Tastee Freez for their support of this program.

Select 2008 and 2009 banners are still available for purchase. These one-of-a-kind banners can be viewed at www.wcculturalarts.org. Anyone wanting more information or to purchase one of the banners should contact the Cultural Arts Commission at cultural@westchicago.org.
