[West Chicago, Illinois] [February 22, 2012]: You've read the reviews and heard all the hype, but before you rush out to buy the "next big thing" – take technology for a test drive!
The West Chicago Public Library District invites you to join in the fun on Thursday, March 15 at 7:00 pm as representatives from Best Buy's Geek Squad will be on hand to discuss the hottest gadgets on the market and tell you what to look for. You'll be able to try out today's most popular devices for yourself, including e-readers, tablets and smartphones, as well as ask the Geek Squad questions about the ones you plan to shop for or may already own.
According to Administrative Librarian, Melody E. Coleman, "Technology is transforming the ways in which we receive information, communicate with friends and family, read the latest bestseller, even how we do our jobs on a daily basis. We are pleased to offer residents the opportunity to learn about using new gadgets step-by-step in a fun, hands-on environment at the Library. Soon, downloading library e-books will be a common practice just like using the on-line catalog rather than the card catalog of yesteryear!"
Adult Services Manager, Benjamin Weseloh, adds, "With the proliferation of new products on the market, learning what sets each one apart and how to use them can be a challenge. Having the opportunity to experiment with a variety of devices can help patrons understand how current technology may fit into their lifestyles."
Whether you're a technology novice, or a digital native trying to decide which new device to buy, you won't want to miss this opportunity to take the latest digital technology out for a spin! For more information, see our website at www.westchicago.lib.il.us or contact Adult Services at (630) 231-1552 ext. 4.
The West Chicago Public Library District is located at 118 West Washington Street.
